Butter Chicken

  • 500g boneless chicken pieces
    150 g tin diced tomatoes
    1 small onion
    1 garlic clove
  • 1 cm ginger, grated
    50 g butter / ghee
    ½ cup natural thick yoghurt
    1 ½ tblsp thick cream
    2 tblsp finely chopped coriander
    2 tblsp blanched almonds finely chopped[/twocol_one]

  • 1kg boneless chicken pieces
    400 g tin diced tomatoes
    1 large onion
    2 garlic cloves
  • 2 cm ginger, grated
    125 g butter / ghee
    2/3 cup natural thick yoghurt
    4 tblsp thick cream
    6 tblsp finely chopped coriander
    4 tblsp blanched almonds finely chopped[/twocol_one_last]


Cooking Method

Finely chop ginger, garlic & almonds.  Combine almonds, ginger, garlic, tomatoes and Spice Blendz Butter Chicken spice mix and chicken pieces with the yoghurt.  Cover and marinate for two hours or overnight in the fridge.  Heat butter in a frying pan and add the onion and cook until softened and brown.

Add the chicken mixture and cook for 2 minutes.  Mix in the fresh coriander.  Put the mixture into a shallow baking dish.  Pour in the cream and stir to combine.  Bake for 1 hour at 180 degrees or until cooked.  Place the dish under a hot grill and brown the top (about 2 minutes).

Serving Suggestion – Our Butter Chicken is complimented with boiled basmati rice, mango chutney and pappadums.

    Very easy to make authentic Indian curry. Smelt wonderful when cooking and tasted even better. A bit hotter than expected, but i just followed your tips and added a little extra cream. The small packet is a perfect size for one with lunch for the next day. Looking forward to trying the other blenz
