Mongolian Style Lamb Medium

  • 300g diced lamb
    2 garlic cloves
    1cm piece of ginger
    1 onion
    ¼ cup blanched almonds
    10ml ghee or oil
    100ml cooking cream or coconut cream
    60ml of stock or water
    Flaked, toasted almonds to garnish

  • 1kg diced lamb
    6 garlic cloves
    4 cm piece of ginger
    2 onions
    1/3 cup blanched almonds
    40ml ghee or oil
    310ml cream or coconut cream
    170ml of stock or water
    Flaked, toasted almonds to garnish


Cooking Method

Blend or finely chop the garlic, ginger, almonds and ½ of the onion add a little water if necessary to make a paste.  Put in a bowl with the meat and combine well.  Cover and marinate for 3 hours or overnight.

Heat the oil or ghee and add Spice Blendz Mongolian Style Lamb spice mix and the remaining ½ an onion fry until the onion is soft and brown.  Transfer it to a bowl.  Fry the meat and any remaining marinade in the pan until the meat is starting to brown.  Add the stock or  water to the pan, cover and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add the spice blend, onion and cream to the pan, simmer for another 30 minutes.  Sprinkle with flaked almonds.

Serving Suggestion – Our Mongolian Style Lamb is complimented with steamed rice and naan bread.
